Based on Leslie McDevitt’s acclaimed book series of the same name, Control Unleashed is a training program for students and dogs who are ready to strengthen their communication and connection around distractions. This class is designed to provide proactive training to:
- Build your dog's ability to pay attention in distracting environments
- Improve your dog's ability to manage their arousal levels.
- Proactively teach handlers how to keep their dogs from becoming reactive.
- Have dogs learn to make choices and communicate those choices to handlers.
This class is a great fit for those planning to participate in dog sports like agility, but also for any handler of an easily distracted, impulsive and/or insecure dog. This a positive reinforcement-based training class; food and toy rewards are utilized throughout the course. No makeup sessions will be offered.
This class is not for aggressive dogs or dogs with a bite history. If you are having issues with reactivity (your dog barks, lunges, or growls at other people or dogs), please look into our 'Top Dogs' series of classes.
This class is held outdoors, in the dog training yard. In case of inclement weather, including rain or excessive heat, class will be postponed. Any skipped class dates will be added to the end of the course, on the same day and time as the regular class time.
This class is open to all graduates of either of our Beginning Level classes - "Beginning Puppy Training" or "Beginning Manners for Dogs" . Our goal is to provide a safe, fun learning environment that will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to successfully work with your dog!
